The group

Each company in the group exists because the one before it ran out of room. What began as a single drilling-fluids plant in Borg El Arab is now five operating companies and a free-zone distribution arm, covering mining, milling, activation and export.

  1. 1988

    The founder starts out

    Chemist Atef Rasheed founds his first company, after twenty-five years at Petrobel and Magcobar.

  2. 1989

    Egypt Mining & Drilling Chemicals (EMIDC)

    The founding company. Mines and processes bentonite for the drilling fluids market from the Borg El Arab Industrial Development Zone.

  3. 1997

    RP Minerals Free Zone

    Founded in the Amreya Free Trade Zone near Alexandria to distribute chemical and mineral products, primarily to the oilfield.

  4. 1999

    Egypt Bentonite & Derivatives (EBDC)

    Created when the founding plant reached processing capacity. Serves the foundry and civil engineering industries.

  5. 2002

    Alexandria Mining Company (AMCO)

    Acquired to add milling capacity for both bentonite and barite, supporting infrastructure and civil work.

  6. 2005

    Egypt Nano Technologies (ENTC)

    Built to support growth in papermaking, civil engineering and oilfield markets through finer processed bentonite products.
