RPMinerals has a long history of bentonite experience, and service to its primary markets. RPMinerals’ history of innovation and reliability is built on a foundation of  talented staff, exceptional product development facilities, state-of-the-art processing facilities and, commitment to “Quality First”.

RPMinerals is headquartered in Alexandria, Egypt with operating facilities in Borg El Arab and Amreya Free Zone, west of Alexandria.

  HISTORY

Egypt Mining & Drilling Chemicals Company (EMIDC)

Founded in 1989 by Atef Rasheed Abou Morra, EMIDC specializes in the mining and processing of bentonite for primarily the drilling fluids market. EMIDC’s plant operation is located in Borg El Arab Industrial Development Zone. Bentonite is mined locally from deposits controlled by Rasheed Performance Minerals 65 km southwest of Borg El Arab.

1989

Egypt Mining & Drilling Chemicals Company (EMIDC)

Founded in 1989 by Atef Rasheed Abou Morra, EMIDC specializes in the mining and processing of bentonite for primarily the drilling fluids market. 1989

Alexandria Mining Company (AMCO)

AMCO was acquired by Rasheed Performance Minerals in 1996 to provide additional milling capacity for bentonite and barite. Also located in Borg El Arab Industrial Development Zone, AMCO has recently increased its milling capacity with the addition of a “ball mill” to produce barite for drilling fluids and clinker for oilfield-grade cement production.

1996

RPMinerals Free Zone

Founded in 1997, RP Minerals Free zone Trading Company is located in the Amreya Free Trade Zone near Alexandria, Egypt. RPM Company specializes in the distribution of chemical and mineral products primarily to the oilfield for use in water-base and oil-base drilling fluids.

RPM Free Zone is an authorized distributor of Fann® Testing Equipment. RPM Free Zone is an authorized service center for the maintenance, repair, and calibration of Fann® testing equipment.

1997

RPMinerals Free Zone

Because of land constraints at EMIDC, Rasheed Performance Minerals built another processing facility nearby their location in Borg El Arab Industrial Zone. The new facility operated as Egypt Bentonite & Derivatives Company (EBDC). EBDC’s focused on new growth opportunities in the foundry industry and the civil engineering industry. To broaden product application capability EBDC began to import bentonite from sources outside Egypt to complement its local bentonite resource. EBDC began to import Wyoming bentonite from its new minority partner, Volclay International (a subsidiary of AMCOL International). Volclay International has a minority stake in EMIDC as well.

EMIDC and EBDC continued to prosper and by 2004, additional processing capacity was needed to support the continued growth and expansion into new markets. In 2004, Rasheed Performance Minerals built another processing facility nearby the location in Borg El Arab Industrial Development Zone. The new facility operates as Egypt Nano Technologies Company (ENTC). ENTC specializes in the processing of bentonite products for use in paper making, civil engineering, and oilfield markets. Processing includes chemical and mechanical activation of bentonite, blending, milling and packaging.

NANO offers customized products to meet specific performance requirements by utilizing bentonites from a variety of sources combined with its core Egyptian bentonite and incorporating precise and accurate blending and treatment capability and state-of-art milling capacity.

2004

CHEM. Atef Rasheed

Founder & Chairman

 

Geo. Atef Rasheed is the founder of RPMinerals group since 1988. RPM group become one of the world top chemical solution providers for Bentonite and Barite.
Geo. Atef Rasheed held various positions in Egypt, including Quality Control section head of Petrobel Company (1963-1974) and was also Drilling fluid engineer at Magcobar Company (1974 – 1987) then he started his own company in 1988 under the name of Egypt Mining & Drilling Chemicals Company. Now RPM is comprised of five companies, dedicated to the production and trading of chemicals.
Geo. Atef Rasheed held Bachelor of Science, Chemistry & Geology section from Faculty of Science, Alexandria University (1963) and Master degree in chemistry fromFaculty of Science, Alexandria University (1970).

Eng. Yasser Rasheed

Vice President / CEO

Eng. Yasser Rasheed held Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical engineering, naval architecture and marine engineering (1995 – 2000). Yasser joined RPM in 2013 to be the Director of Sales & Marketing department and now he is the Vice president of the group.
Yasser worked for Schlumberger Oilfield Services (2003 -2013). He started as a Wireline Services field engineer working in Egypt, Sudan, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Bahrain. He moved on to become Schlumberger’s account manager for Aramco in Saudi Arabia and then Country Manager in Bahrain. In 2010, he was appointed as Schlumberger’s Wireline Services Business Development Manager in Iraq and based in Dubai, U.A.E.  With Schlumberger, Yasser gained significant field and management experience working directly with national oil companies and international oilfield operators. His major accounts included Exxon Mobil, Shell, ENI, Occidental, Aramco, OMV, MOL and, Gulf Keystone.

Prior to working for Schlumberger, Yasser was the transportation supervisor for ExxonMobil’s lubricant operations in Egypt.

During 2000-2002, Yasser was a logging and perforation field engineer for Halliburton Energy Services.

Mr. Walied Rizk

CFO

Walied Rizk studied Accounting (1997) at faculty of Commerce, Alexandria University. Egypt. Walied joined RPM group in 2017 to be Group’s CFO.
During Walied’s career, he held so many certifies such as Organisational Manager (COM) at Florida State University –FL, USA (2009), Master of Business Administration & International Business at Arab Academy for science & transportation, Egypt (2013), International Financial Reporting (IFRS) from the Association of Chartered certified Accountants (ACCA) (2016), International Auditing (CERTIA) from the Association of Chartered certified Accountants (ACCA) & International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) (2017)

Eng. Mohammed Ibrahim

Operations and Supply Chain Director

M. Ibrahim graduated in 1990 with a Bachelor degree of Electrical Engineering from the University of Alexandria.

Mohamed Started his career in 1991 working in the steel industry, then gained a long time experience in the heavy industry moving through different operations and plant management positions for more than 25 years.

In the beginning of 2019, Mohamed joined RPMinerals management team as “Operations & Supply Chain Director” in order to enhance the operations standards, support the quality management system’s requirements and improve the supply chain efficiency and sustainability.
